Bold Green Strategies launches Carbon Literacy for Museums.

We’re pleased to announce that Bold Green Strategies | Sustainability Consultancy are rolling out the delivery of the Carbon Literacy Project's Museums course.

As many of you will know, Nash Gierak worked in Arts and Heritage before moving into sustainability (V&A, Charles Dickens Museum, Shakespeare's Globe, and an MA in Renaissance Studies), and it has been her ambition to bring these two passions together.

▶︎ Why Carbon Literacy?

Museums play a distinct role in our communities, inspiring and informing millions of people every year. It is important that the people who work and volunteer at museums feel confident about climate change. The Museums course contains practical information and tools to support museums’ efforts to reduce carbon impacts, meet funding requirements, and communicate confidently about these efforts.

Carbon Literacy provides the tools (a day's worth of training) to become an informed and environmentally active low-carbon sector. The Cultural Sector’s response to climate change is well underway, but there is more to be done: fostering a sector-wide understanding of climate change causes, impacts, and solutions is crucial to the response. Individuals and institutions in the sector have a pivotal role in the climate crisis.

They can inform society’s response to climate change by telling the stories of our past, present, and possible futures, and utilise our shared cultural and natural heritage to inspire action. Carbon Literacy training supports this role by offering individuals and institutions knowledge so they can include climate change in their storytelling, stewardship, and creative practice.

Carbon Literacy for Museums is a specialist course, that includes lots of great case studies from museums around the UK.
